This month the RANZCO Eye Foundation has a national eye health awareness month called JulEYE.
Every 65 minutes an Australian loses part or all of their vision, yet around 75% of such vision loss is completely preventable if detected and treated early.
This month is all about raising your awareness of eye health issues as well as raising funding for research projects to help ascertain what causes these eye diseases and what cures them. With this awareness and funding, we aim to support international development projects who hold similar ideals as to those of JulEYE.
It is always important to receive a regular eye check as a genetic history of eye disease puts you or your children at greater risk. We encourage you to talk to your family about their history of eye disease and come in to eyeclarity to check if you are as healthy as you can be.
Similarly, parents should be wary of their child’s eye care as the first eight years of a child’s life is critical to their eye development. If problems are not addressed, you run the risk of permanently damaging your child’s vision.
This JulEYE, support a cause commonly overlooked. Come and check your vision is as good as it should be.
